Behind The Camera

Hi, my name is Maddy Brooks 

I am 19 year old photographer based out of South Dakota and I have been growing my love and skill for photography for a while now. About 7 years ago, I picked up my sister's camera just wanting to play around with it, so I took some pictures of random things and objects just to see what I could do.  As soon as I heard the “click” and my first picture was captured, I knew I was hooked. I love seeing my unique photo style come out in every photo I take. I decided that my overall goal for photography was to show each and every person I photograph that they’re beautiful and unique just the way they are and that every imperfect thing they find on themselves is actually truly beautiful to God. 

This verse reminds me what my goal of photography is, "I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well" (Psalm 139:1). No person is the same, and that’s one of my favorite things about photography. Being able to witness someone feel beautiful seeing themselves in their own natural God-given beauty, or capturing candid moments is why I love doing what I do. I love seeing the joy on peoples faces when they see the perspectives I captured of some of the most joyful moments in life. That's how I came up with my name. I hope I get the opportunity to help capture a joyful perspective for you too.
